For the past 25 years, we have celebrated National Women’s Day every year on the 9th of August in South Africa to celebrate the strength, spirit and contributions of our female counterparts to society and our country.

The many gaps for women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) continue to persist not just locally but globally. Initiatives such as the Young Engineers Changemakers Programme launched through the WADER platform at the Water Research Commission are a step in the right direction to assuaging such gaps.
