The Water Research Commission (WRC), Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) funded innovation platforms, namely the Water Technologies Demonstration Programme (WADER) and South African Sanitation Technology Enterprise Programme (SASTEP) provide funds for the demonstration of various technologies that are appropriate for the water and sanitation sector.

The purpose of the field-testing and demonstration is to evaluate and validate the functionality, performance, and user acceptance of the innovation. To ensure the accuracy and veracity of the outcome, independent technology evaluators are required to assess these criteria during the field-testing and demonstration period. The evaluation/validation reports are usually not published but shared with the innovators so that they can improve their product or service and only shared with the test site partner or other public sector partners if requested and in confidentiality: EXPRESSION OF INTEREST_TECH EVALUATORS_final
